When I was looking for a house to buy, I had given my agent what I thought was a very broad list but one she defined as serious business.  The only things that I asked for was that it had to have 3 or more bedrooms and they all had to be bigger than 10 x 10, a fireplace, horse property, fruit trees, no homeowners association, a pool and the overall house had to be bigger than 1800 sq ft.  In the end, I found the perfect house and showed it to the agent.  Yes, it had all the above and more.  I love my house though it is a "fixer upper".  Why do I bring this up?  Well, I have one fruit tree in particular that fruits all year without me doing a thing to it.  When I say fruit, I mean FRUIT.  It is my Tangerine tree.  All year round this thing is full of Tangerines.  Mostly I have ignored it.  Now however, I have been making all kinds of recipes with all those tangerines.  From fruit salad to marinades to smoothies.  Over the next few weeks, I will be posting all of the recipes here.
What I had failed to do in the past was freeze the fruit.  That's right, freeze it.  I peel it and take off the stringy pulp and throw it into a freezer bag.  Who would have thunk!  I made my first Tangerine smoothie a few weeks ago and now just love them.  I do not take the seeds out, just throw the peeled fruit right into the blender.  It is just so yummy.  Want to make it sweeter or have this smoothie as a dessert?  Add some chocolate chips to it before you blend or Andes mints and use the Almond milk.  It tastes like a OrangeSicle with a hint of mint.
Oh, my Kumquats are about to be ripe too.  You have been forewarned.
